Apis (アピス, Apisu?) is a playable centaur knight in the games Shining Force Gaiden and Shining Force CD.

Background[]

Apis is the oldest son of Ken[1] from Shining Force: The Legacy of Great Intention. Ruce (who most likely knew Apis because their fathers are both soldiers of Guardiana and veterans of the war against Runefaust) recruited him for an expedition into Cypress to save Queen Anri and the captured Guardiana soldiers. Apis is light skinned, with a brown body and light brown hair and tail. His armor and shield color is dark blue, the same colors as his father, and he wears a red headband much like Mae's.

Personality[]

Apis is a fairly typical hero: brave, idealistic, and eager to serve a good cause. He has the ability to surpass his father, but he has a modest personality.[1]

Strategy[]

Though his stats are decent, Apis is outdone by the other knights of Shining Force Gaiden; Kashing has better Defense, while Randolf has far better Attack and HP. Though he has better stats than both Dawn and Eric of Shining Force CD, the two of them must be used in Book 4, so Apis isn't the best choice for Book 3 either.

If you want to use three or more knights, Apis will certainly pull his weight. If you only plan on using one or two, however, there are better knights than Apis to fill those slots.

Powers & Magic[]

Apis can use no magic and has no powers.

Quotes[]

  • At the castle of Guardiana
Ken: "Apis! My son! You are NOT going!! It's much too dangerous!"
Apis: "Please, Father... You know I can handle a sword. And Queen Anri needs us."
  • In headquarters during Book 3
Apis: "Has anyone ever thought that the reason Queen Anri is always in trouble is that she is unlucky?"

Trivia[]

Ken harbored a secret crush on Mae, so it is possible that Mae might be the mother of Apis.
