Chaos is a robot built to protect the heirs of the Ancients. He appears as a boss fight in Shining Force: The Legacy of Great Intention and Shining Force: Resurrection of the Dark Dragon.


BackgroundEdit

Much of Chaos's backstory appears in the original Japanese script but was taken out in the official translation, most likely due to space limitations. Along with Adam, Chaos was created by the Ancients after Dark Dragon's original defeat as a step to prevent his revival in 1,000 years. The two robots were programmed to awaken at that time and guide and protect the heirs of the Ancients in their fight to stop Dark Dragon. Chaos was specifically assigned to protect Kane.

However, when Darksol took Kane captive and possessed him, he also reprogrammed Chaos to fight and prevent the Shining Force from reaching the altars to combine the Swords of Light and Darkness to create the Chaos Breaker. When Max followed Adam to the altar, Chaos appeared and attacked them.

StrategyEdit

If you go too far forward (beyond the structure in the middle, that is) or too far to the left or right, you will 'trigger' various enemies, like the demon master mages, jets, laser eyes, ice worms and minotaurs. If you proceed too far, you will also trigger Chaos (Chaos is only triggered by going forward though). This is a very, very bad thing, because the last thing you want to do is try to fight a boss and all of the above mentioned enemies at the same time.

Unlike those enemies, who will return to their normal 'posts' if you back away from their trigger zones before they actually reach you, Chaos will hunt you and the rest of your party down relentlessly, and he is very powerful.

The smartest thing to do would probably be to find out how far you can go without 'triggering' Chaos, egressing and then walking that far, taking out all the other enemies who are triggered. When you have killed as many of them as you can, you'll inevietably have to trigger Chaos to take out the rest. My advice is to play ring-around-the-rosy with Chaos, keeping that large structure between you and him while you take out the rest of his minions (they'll go after you if you get too close, but unlike Chaos, they'll generally try to stick to their designated areas). Then, when you're ready, focus all your strongest characters on him at once. A couple large spells wouldn't hurt either.

Note: No enemies will be 'triggered' by walking onto or around that center structure, so if you have vulnerable sniping units, this could be an ideal place to keep them until you begin running from Chaos.
