Dawn is a Cypress soldier who serves as a playable knight in the games Shining Force Gaiden II and Shining Force CD.

Background[]

Little is known of Dawn beyond that she is a young guard of Cypress. She seems to have been friends with Natasha since before Shining Force: The Sword of Hajya, but this is not certain.

Personality[]

Dawn is a very dutiful and focused soldier, and shows a quiet disgust for soldiers who are lackadaisical about their job. Eric particularly annoys her, as he refuses to admit to his irresponsibility and even boasts of never falling short in his duty. In contrast, she has formed a solid friendship with Natasha, perhaps because she has a devotion to serving Cypress that makes even Dawn seem easygoing by comparison.

However, much like Natasha, Dawn's dutifulness does not mean she is at all cold. She projects a friendly and reassuring manner to most people she meets, and seems to enjoy the thrill of the battlefield.

Strategy[]

Despite her disciplined attitude, Dawn is statistically the weakest of the Paladins in Shining Force CD. She starts off well compared to Eric, with noticeably higher Defense. However, the tables soon turn and by level 10 unpromoted Eric is already as good or better in every stat. Things only get worse for Dawn; though she quickly regains her lead over Eric for Defense, all of her stats remain low in absolute terms, and her HP in particular is shockingly low.

At level 10 promoted Dawn briefly enjoys Attack and Defense that is decent by Paladin standards, but after that her growths are minimal in every stat. In the end, her sole edge over any of the other Paladins is that her Defense is better than Eric's. She's still solid enough to do her duty on the battlefield, but the only reason to use her over any other Paladin is if you're training for Book 4, since Dawn is part of the requisite Book 4 party.

In Shining Force: The Sword of Hajya, Dawn is more or less the same, with just slightly more HP and Defense and slightly less Attack.

Powers & Magic[]

Dawn can use no magic and has no powers.

Quotes[]

  • (talking to Jaha about Deanna) "Don't tempt him. You're not a good influence. Unlike you, Deanna is taking his guard duty seriously."
  • (Book 2 headquarters, not in active party) "If you want a good workout, you should try training with me."
  • (Book 3 headquarters, not in active party) "I'm just polishing my armor while waiting in headquarters. Yes, they are old. My grandma gave them to me."
