Blaze (ブレイズ/bureizu in Japanese) is a fire-based attack spell used in the Shining series games.

Details

Blaze is a fire elemental attack spell. Each level has a different look as the spell gets stronger:

• Level 1 - A small flame rises under the target.
• Level 2 - Small fireballs rain down onto the target.
• Level 3 - Large fireballs rain down on the target with a larger flame under the enemy.
• Level 4 - Huge fireballs rain down on the enemy with a very large flame under the enemy.

In Shining in the Darkness and Shining Force II: Ancient Sealing a dragon-shape fire spirit appears flying around the enemies damaging them.

Strategy

Blaze is the second weakest and least costly elemental attack spell, falling ahead of Blast and behind Freeze. There are many enemies who have more resistance to it than other elemental spells and it does not have as much range as Freeze or Bolt. Blaze levels 3 and 4 are more economical (i.e.higher damage/(MP cost) ratio) than the corresponding levels of Freeze, Bolt, and Blast.

• Marin, Tao, Anri, Aleph, Arthur, Kazin, Tyrin, Chaz, Wendy, Yeesha, Natasha, Hawel.

Trivia

• Ninjas use a similar spell called Katon.
