Simone (known only as "the read-it girl" in the Japanese version) is the "host" for the game Shining Force: The Legacy of Great Intention.

As we start up the game, we are greeted by Simone, a young looking elf girl reading an ancient book:

- Hordes of evil creatures ravaged every land. Here and there strongholds of good held out ...

At this point you pick to start a new game, continue a saved game, copy an existing game or delete an existing game. If you are starting a new game you will pick a new name for Max.
